“Courageous tears embrace an unknown life
Reflection whispers a foretold farewell
Between these thoughts…

I remember to live”

-Adriel Lares

Memento Mori - (Latin) "remember you must die"

Memento Mori refers to the ancient practice of reflecting upon our mortality and living life zestfully as we never really know when our Earthbound time is up. To quote the famed Roman Emperor, Marcus Aurelius, “You could leave life right now. Let that determine what you do and say and think.”

Meditating on your mortality shouldn't dampen your spirits; rather, it's a useful tool for living a life on purpose and attaining the life you truly want. Death doesn’t make life pointless but rather purposeful. Are you embracing your life OR are you living in fear of what awaits you at the end? If you knew you would die tomorrow, what would you do with your last moments? It's a humbling reminder that we should live as though there is no tomorrow. Take nothing for granted. Live without regret. Say the things.

Tecumseh, a renowned Shawnee orator, warrior, and chief, wrote a poem that encouraged people to meet their end bravely. He said, “When your time comes to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song, and die like a hero going home.”

Our hand decorated coffin bath bombs were created exclusively for Pittsboro's annual Death Faire, a death-positivity movement that explores grief and "death as an ally".  The stunning design captures the reverence and mystique of Memento Mori in an artful manner. Perfect for meditating on your mortality during a sacred ritual bath. Or perhaps you wish to honor the memory a lost loved one? Commune with your ancestors on Samhain?

We've thoughtfully paired our coffin design with a peaceful, meditative and cleansing aromatic blend of soothing lavender, white sage, and grounding cedarwood and sandalwood. A flourish of sky blue foam will streak across the water for a bit of drama. A posie of dried florals tops each coffin and may be removed before using to keep as your own personal memento, if you so wish.
