Manipura is the Hindu name for the 3rd chakra, aka the Solar Plexus, which is located just above the navel. Manipura translates to mean "lustrous gem" and this chakra is associated with the fire element and the color yellow (think sun!). The Manipura chakra is the center of our vitality - the power center of emotions, positive self-control, and metabolic energy. It is also the seat of our digestive system, transforming food into energy. Great deals of nerves are located in the Third Chakra, which is directly connected to our instincts or our “gut feelings” and is associated with our self-esteem, sense of purpose, personal identity, individual will, digestion, and metabolism.
