FAQ
-
Are all of your products 100% vegan? All of our products are primarily plant-based, but some products do contain beeswax and/or honey, and these ingredients will always appear in the ingredient deck. On occasion, we may introduce a limited edition or seasonal soap that contains milk or eggs, but these ingredients will always be listed on the label.
-
What is the shelf life of your products? We primarily use ECO-Cert preservatives which gives our products an average shelf life of 9-12 months when properly stored. Some products, such as balms/salves and soaps have much longer shelf lives. However, we recommend using our natural products right away for optimal freshness. For longest shelf life, please do not allow the introduction of water or microbes (via dirty fingers) to your product container and store out of direct sun or exposure to extreme temperatures. On all products excluding soaps and candles, you can find a production date on the ingredient label. For optimal results, please follow all storage and usage instructions provided with the product.
-
Why does my product look or smell differently than the one I previously purchased? While using natural and wild-harvested ingredients, the color, aroma, and texture may vary with every batch. This is due to the beautiful inconsistency of Mother Nature. Every product is just as unique as you are!
-
When will you restock XYZ product? Each and every Solstice Herb Farm product is made in an intimate, small batch inside our beauty lab. Small batches keep nutrient dense products fresh for optimal benefits and many of our products are seasonal in nature and thus only available for a limited time. We will always announce restocks of our most popular products via social media.
-
Are your containers reusable or recyclable? Most of our products are packaged in recyclable glass containers, paper, or metal tins. We strive to utilize minimal packaging. However, in some instances, it is more practical to package a product in plastic (like body scrubs for in-shower use where glass would be dangerous). We encourage you to reuse your containers in creative ways. We ship your products with shredded paper filling or biodegradable starch peanuts that you can easily wet and add to your garden compost. Some items will be shipped with protective bubble wrap that we have recycled from our supplier shipments and we encourage you to recycle these items whenever possible.
-
Are your products certified organic and all natural? While we strive to use certified organic ingredients whenever practical and economically feasible, we do not seek organic certification for our products. Furthermore, we often utilize wildcrafted botanicals or hand-harvested herbs from our own farm which is not certified organic, as well as sourcing from local farms that practice safe, sustainable and regenerative farming practices (but are not necessarily USDA certified organic). We are committed to using plant-based ingredients and thoroughly research all ingredients to ensure conformity to COSMOS and ECOCERT standards. You can look up any of our ingredients on the Environmental Working Group’s Skin Deep website.
-
Do your products contain palm oil?We are proud to produce soaps without the use of palm oil! We have a deep respect for the environment and strive to source ingredients that are environmentally sustainable. That said, some additives, like emulsifiers or surfactants, are only made from palm and/or coconut derivatives and cannot be replaced by another product of natural origin.
-
Do your products contain gluten or other allergens? While our beauty lab is not a certified gluten-free facility, we do not use gluten in any of our products. We also generally avoid the use of tree nuts. However, on occasion, we may use sweet almond oil or almond milk. Many products, and ALL of our soaps, contain coconut oil. We strictly adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) to avoid any cross-contamination between products and ingredients used. It is important that you are aware of any ingredients/allergens that could affect you. Although all of our products are formulated for even the most sensitive skin, you should always test first to ensure compatibility with your specific skin. Please always conduct a 24-hour patch test on the inside of your forearm before usage. Discontinue use if skin irritation occurs. Do not apply to broken skin. Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes. All of our skincare products are for external use only. If you have any concerns about a particular product, please contact us at solsticeherbfarm@gmail.com.
-
Are the fragrances in your products natural? All of our leave-on body products, including all facial products, lotions, body butters, botanical perfumes/roll ons, etc are made with pure, therapeutic grade essential oils that are blended by hand by a certified clinical aromatherapist. Candles, and most of our body soaps, are made with premium fragrance oils that are phthalate-free, paraben-free, and exclusive of any cancer-causing ingredients on the CA Prop-65 list, or ingredients similar to Prop-65 ingredients. We strictly adhere to the proper usage rates of fragrances and essential oils as set forth by the International Fragrance Association (IFRA). Some scents will be naturally lighter or stronger based on these usage rates.
-
Are your soaps made with natural colorants? We adore plant-based colorants and clays and utilize them frequently! But we also love to play with micas! Our micas are ethically sourced and generally lab-produced to avoid heavy metal contamination and child labor issues.
-
Are your products safe to use during pregnancy or while breastfeeding? Many of our products contain essential oils and/or fragrance oils, which may be contraindicated for these or other health conditions. The complete list of ingredients can be found under each product on our website. Please consult with your physician for any questions or concerns.
-
Can we visit your farm? Our farm is our private residence and we generally do not permit farm visits. However, you are welcome to visit our retail store located at 23 Rectory St in Pittsboro NC. See our Contact page for hours and availability.
